This showstopping corkscrew, made of steel and polished brass, is a reproduction of a 19th century design featuring a distinctly spring-like shape ("ressort" is the French word for "spring").  The unique double spindle design works thusly: by turning the handle clockwise, the corkscrew is fully threaded into the cork, allowing the cork to be extracted from the bottle by continuing to turn the handle in the same direction.
