Variation Decanter with Aerator
|
Prior to maturity, a young red wine can be quickly awakened by aerating, forcing a maximum exposure to air. This hand-blown glass aerating set features a unique decanter base shape that allows it to stand upright, or rest tilted on its side enabling a greater surface contact between the wine and the air, and allows further aeration is swirled before serving. The wine is poured over a hand-blown, fluted, solid glass stopper. Fluting forces the wine along the sides of the decanter. Capacity is suitable for a standard 750 ml bottle of wine.
Peugeot's history begins in the 19th century with the manufacturing of items such as coffee and pepper grinders. More than 160 years later, Peugeot products still set the standard in the kitchens of the greatest chefs.
Why should you use a decanter? A decanter provides the ideal environment for a wine to reveal the subtle details of its color and the diversity of its aromatic palette, one that will refine the wine's taste to enable the full expression of its intensity. As well as being an object d'art, the decanter should also be a functional tool, designed specifically to accentuate all the pleasures that wine tasting has to offer.
A little extra info about your wine: Young reds, whether designed for aging or earlier consumption, often possess overpowering acids and, particularly, tannins. Pouring them into a decanter that promotes contact between the wine and the air helps accelerate the maturing process through oxygenation, enabling the wine to age (mellow) considerably within a few hours.
