Highly ornamented and decorated solid 14k  and garnet bangle bracelet. Seven large faceted garnets grace the top of the hinged bracelet, a thumb pressure clasp is on the back. Inner width at widest is 2.25, outer width is 2 and 5/8.  Garnets are one of the largest families of gemstones. There are about a dozen varieties of garnets found world wide; they come in all colors except blue. The name 'Garnet' seems to stem from the Greek word for pomegranate, a fruit with clusters of fiery red seeds. Garnets were highly popular in Europe during the 18th and 19th century and enjoyed great admiration and demand during the Victorian age. They are also associated with blood purification. They were believed to protect against food poisoning, snake bites, and hemorrhage.
