Olive oil is added to the vegetable base to create soap with exceptional moisturizing qualities. The raw ingredients are heated in a large cauldron for several days, then poured into oversized molds, cut to size, stamped, and allowed to harden.
Marseille soap has been manufactured in France since the 14th century, using traditional techniques that are still prided today. In 1688, King Louis XIV proclaimed the "Edict de Colbert", which regulated the manufacturing process and addressed the criteria regarding ingredients and the specific regions where the soap could be manufactured.
