These delightful copper cufflinks are made of authentic Indian head pennies, in circulation in the US between 1859 and 1909. The Indian head penny, designed by James Barton Longacre, has long since been coveted for its red copper luster and purported good luck properties. A most serendipitous gift! Though it was replaced by the Lincoln Penny in 1909, it was never forgotten and is still considered by collectors to be among the most aesthetically pleasing coins ever minted.These coins (over 100 years old, wowza!) tarnish easily. Please use a jewelry polishing cloth or a brass/copper solution to clean. Also allow for individual variations.
